Tense-Timeline - 12 englische Zeitformen

Die 12 Zeitformen (Verb: work)Tabelle mit 4 Spalten und 4 Zeilen, Daten: Aspekt · Past · Present · Future; Simple · worked · work(s) · will work; Continuous · was working · am working · will be working; Perfect · had worked · have worked · will have worked; Perfect Cont. · had been working · have been working · will have been workingASPEKTPASTPRESENTFUTURESIMPLEworkedwork(s)will workCONTINUOUSwas workingam workingwill be workingPERFECThad workedhave workedwill have workedPERFECT CONT.had been workinghave been workingwill have been working
Abb. 1Aspekt-Kreuz: Past / Present / Future mal Simple / Continuous / Perfect / Perfect Continuous (Subjekt durchgehend "I", Verb "work"). Present Simple in der 3. Person mit -s: he works.

Kernpunkte

Present Simple: Gewohnheiten, Tatsachen, Fakten. Signalwörter: always, usually, often, every day, on Mondays.
Present Continuous: Vorgang jetzt im Moment / temporäre Situation. Signalwörter: now, right now, at the moment, currently, this week.
Present Perfect: abgeschlossene Handlung mit Bezug zur Gegenwart (Ergebnis / Erfahrung / unspezifische Zeit). Signalwörter: ever, never, just, already, yet, recently, since, for.
Present Perfect Continuous: Handlung, die in der Vergangenheit begonnen hat und noch andauert oder gerade endete; Fokus auf Dauer. Signalwörter: for + Zeitraum, since + Startpunkt, all day, lately.
State Verbs (know, believe, love, hate, understand, want) stehen NICHT im Continuous: "I am knowing him" -> "I know him".
Bei "since" / "for" steht Present Perfect oder Present Perfect Continuous - nie Present Simple.
Musterbeispiel

Present-Tenses unterscheiden - welche Form passt?

Setze die richtige Present-Form ein: "Sarah (1) ___ (work) as a nurse, but this month she (2) ___ (do) a course in Vienna. She (3) ___ (already / pass) two exams, and she (4) ___ (study) for the final one since Monday."

  1. 01Lücke 1 - Gewohnheit

Dauerhafter Beruf / Tatsache -> Present Simple: "works". Signal: kein Zeitfokus, allgemeine Wahrheit.

  2. 02Lücke 2 - temporär jetzt

"this month" + vorübergehend -> Present Continuous: "is doing". Signal: temporäre Situation in diesem Zeitraum.

  3. 03Lücke 3 - Ergebnis bis jetzt

"already" + abgeschlossenes Ergebnis mit Gegenwartsbezug -> Present Perfect: "has already passed".

  4. 04Lücke 4 - Dauer seit Startpunkt

"since Monday" + Dauer, noch andauernd -> Present Perfect Continuous: "has been studying".

Ergebnis: (1) works, (2) is doing, (3) has already passed, (4) has been studying. Lehre: Signalwörter (this month, already, since) und die Frage "Gewohnheit / jetzt / Ergebnis / Dauer?" entscheiden die Form.

Maturafokus

  • Present Perfect vs. Past Simple: konkrete vergangene Zeit (yesterday, in 2020) -> Past Simple. Unbestimmte / bis jetzt -> Present Perfect.
  • Present Simple für Stundenpläne, Fahrpläne (The train leaves at 7) - selbst wenn die Handlung in der Zukunft liegt.
  • Bei Reporting-Frequenz-Adverbien: position vor Hauptverb (I often go) / nach to be (She is often late).
  • Continuous für "annoying habits" mit "always" (He is always interrupting me!).
  • Prüfe State Verbs - sie sind im Continuous-Stress oft falsch verwendet.

Typische Fehler

  • Present Perfect für abgeschlossene Vergangenheit (I have seen him yesterday - falsch; richtig: I saw him yesterday).
  • Present Continuous für permanente Tatsachen (I am living in Vienna seit Geburt - falsch).
  • Stative Verbs im Continuous (I am loving it - umstritten, formell falsch).
  • Present Simple in 3rd singular ohne -s (he go statt he goes).
  • Negation ohne Hilfsverb (he not go statt he does not go).

Aktive Wiederholung

Translate / form 5 sentences each: 1) Present Simple (habits), 2) Present Continuous (now), 3) Present Perfect (life experience), 4) Present Perfect Continuous (for 2 hours / since 8 a.m.). Identify the signal word in each.

§ 02

Past Tenses - Simple, Continuous, Perfect, Perfect Continuous#

●○○BasisLPE-G-Tense-1.2

Abb. 2Aspekt-Kreuz: Past / Present / Future mal Simple / Continuous / Perfect / Perfect Continuous (Subjekt durchgehend "I", Verb "work"). Present Simple in der 3. Person mit -s: he works.

Kernpunkte

Past Simple: abgeschlossene Handlung in der Vergangenheit. Signalwörter: yesterday, last week, in 1990, ago, when I was a child.
Past Continuous: andauernde Handlung in der Vergangenheit; oft als Hintergrund zu einer Unterbrechung (Past Simple). Signalwörter: while, as, when.
Past Perfect: Handlung VOR einer anderen Handlung in der Vergangenheit. Signalwörter: before, after, by the time, already, just, never... before.
Past Perfect Continuous: Dauerbetont; vor einem Bezugspunkt in der Vergangenheit, mit Fokus auf Dauer. Signalwörter: for/since + Zeitraum vor einem Past-Bezugspunkt.
Unregelmäßige Verben: go-went-gone, see-saw-seen, take-took-taken, write-wrote-written - die Top-50 müssen sitzen.
"Used to + Inf" druckt früher gewohnt aus: "I used to play tennis" (jetzt nicht mehr).
Musterbeispiel

Past Tense Mix in einer kurzen Erzählung

Write a 5-sentence narrative using Past Simple, Past Continuous, and Past Perfect appropriately.

  1. 01Past Simple Setup

"Last summer, I travelled to Lisbon for the first time."

  2. 02Past Continuous Background

"On the second morning, while I was waiting in a long queue at a famous pastry shop, I noticed a familiar face."

  3. 03Past Perfect Vorzeitigkeit

"It was a classmate I had not seen since primary school - we had not spoken for almost a decade."

  4. 04Past Simple + Past Continuous Verbindung

"We spent the rest of the day catching up while strolling through Alfama."

  5. 05Past Perfect closure

"By the time I returned to Vienna, I had reconnected with someone I had thought I would never see again."

Ergebnis: Erzählung mit korrektem Tense-Mix. Jede Form trigger-gerecht: Past Simple für abgeschlossene Schritte, Past Continuous für Hintergrund, Past Perfect für Vorzeitigkeit.

Maturafokus

  • Past Continuous für Hintergrundhandlung: "When I arrived, she was cooking dinner."
  • Past Perfect für Vorzeitigkeit: "By the time he called, she had already left."
  • Unregelmäßige Verben in Past Simple und Past Participle - regelmäßig wiederholen.
  • "Used to" + Inf vs. "be used to" + V-ing (an etwas gewohnt sein) - oft verwechselt.
  • Past Perfect Continuous selten - nur wenn Dauer im Fokus.

Typische Fehler

  • Past Simple statt Past Perfect bei Vorzeitigkeit ("when I arrived, she left" - oft semantisch falsch).
  • Past Continuous für Punkthandlung (I was eating dinner at 7 - korrekt; I was eating my breakfast quickly - eher Past Simple).
  • Unregelmäßige Verben falsch (he goed statt he went).
  • "Used to" mit "to" + Verb-ing vermischt.
  • Backshift in Reported Speech vergessen.

Aktive Wiederholung

Write 3 mini-stories of 5 sentences each. Each story must use Past Simple + Past Continuous + Past Perfect. Mark each tense use with a code (PS / PC / PP). Identify the signal that triggers each tense.

§ 03

Future Forms - will, going to, Present Continuous, Future Perfect#

●●○StandardLPE-G-Tense-1.3

Abb. 3Aspekt-Kreuz: Past / Present / Future mal Simple / Continuous / Perfect / Perfect Continuous (Subjekt durchgehend "I", Verb "work"). Present Simple in der 3. Person mit -s: he works.

Kernpunkte

"Will + Infinitiv": spontane Entscheidung, Vorhersage, Versprechen. "I'll call you later", "It will rain tomorrow".
"Be going to + Infinitiv": geplante Absicht, sichere Vorhersage aus Anzeichen. "I'm going to study medicine", "Look at those clouds - it's going to rain".
Present Continuous für feste Zukunfts-Verabredungen: "We're meeting at 7", "I'm flying to Paris next week".
Present Simple für Stundenpläne / Fahrpläne: "The train leaves at 7", "The film starts at 8".
Future Continuous (will be + V-ing): andauernde Handlung in der Zukunft. "This time tomorrow, I will be flying to Rome".
Future Perfect (will have + V3): abgeschlossene Handlung vor einem Bezugspunkt in der Zukunft. "By 2030, scientists will have developed a vaccine for ...".
Musterbeispiel

Future-Formen wählen - fünf Kontexte

Wähle die passende Future-Form: 1) spontanes Hilfsangebot, 2) Stundenplan morgen, 3) fester Zahnarzttermin um 15 Uhr, 4) Vorhersage aus dunklen Wolken, 5) was bis zum Prüfungstag fertig ist.

  1. 011) Spontanes Angebot

will + Infinitiv (Entscheidung im Moment): "That bag looks heavy - I'll carry it for you."

  2. 022) Stundenplan / 3) fester Termin

Fahrplan/Stundenplan -> Present Simple: "Our first class starts at 8." Fester persönlicher Termin -> Present Continuous: "I'm seeing the dentist at three."

  3. 034) Vorhersage aus Anzeichen

be going to (Evidenz sichtbar): "Look at those clouds - it's going to rain."

  4. 045) Abgeschlossen vor Zeitpunkt

Future Perfect mit "by": "By exam day, I will have revised every topic."

Ergebnis: 1) I'll carry, 2) starts, 3) I'm seeing, 4) it's going to rain, 5) will have revised. Lehre: spontan=will, geplant=going to/Present Continuous, Fahrplan=Present Simple, abgeschlossen vor Zeitpunkt=Future Perfect.

Maturafokus

  • "Will" vs. "going to": will für spontan / Vorhersage; going to für geplant.
  • Present Continuous mit Future Adverbial (next week, tomorrow) ist KORREKT - es ist NICHT progressive Present.
  • Future Perfect häufig in Vorhersagen über Forschungsfortschritt ("By 2030, AI will have transformed ...").
  • In Time Clauses mit "when", "as soon as", "before", "after", "until": KEIN Future-Tense; verwende Present Simple. "When I arrive, I will call you" (NICHT "When I will arrive").
  • Conditional Type 1: If + Present, will + Inf.

Typische Fehler

  • In time clauses Future verwendet (When I will get there ... - falsch).
  • Will für geplant ("I will be a doctor" als Plan - besser "I am going to be a doctor").
  • Present Continuous für Stundenpläne (The train is leaving at 7 - eher Present Simple).
  • Future Perfect ohne "by" oder "before" - oft falsch interpretiert.
  • Going to verkürzt zu "gonna" in formeller Schrift.

Aktive Wiederholung

For each context, choose the most appropriate future form: 1) sudden offer to help, 2) tomorrow's class schedule, 3) confirmed dentist appointment at 3 pm, 4) prediction based on dark clouds, 5) what you will have finished by exam day. Write one sentence per context.

Beispiele - 0: If water reaches 100 C, it boils. 1: If she trains hard, she will pass. 2: If I had more time, I would travel more. 3: If we had left earlier, we would have caught the train. Mixed: If I had studied medicine, I would be a doctor now.

Kernpunkte

Type 0 - General truths / Naturgesetze: If + Present Simple, Present Simple. "If water reaches 100 C, it boils."
Type 1 - Real future: If + Present Simple, will + Infinitiv. "If she trains hard, she will pass the exam."
Type 2 - Hypothetical / unwahrscheinlich Gegenwart oder Zukunft: If + Past Simple, would + Infinitiv. "If I won the lottery, I would travel the world."
Type 3 - Past Counterfactual / unmöglich Vergangenheit: If + Past Perfect, would have + V3. "If we had left earlier, we would have caught the train."
Mixed Conditional: Bedingung in Vergangenheit, Folge in Gegenwart: If + Past Perfect, would + Infinitiv. "If I had studied medicine, I would be a doctor now."
In Type 2: "If I were" (formell, korrekt) statt "If I was" (umgangssprachlich) - in Prüfung "If I were" verwenden.
Musterbeispiel

Mixed Conditional - was wäre wenn

Bilde einen Mixed Conditional zum Szenario: "Du hast als Kind kein Klavier gelernt, jetzt kannst du nicht spielen."

  1. 01Bedingung in Past Perfect

"If I had learned the piano as a child"

  2. 02Folge in Present

"I would (be able to) play it now."

  3. 03Voller Satz

"If I had learned the piano as a child, I would be able to play it now."

  4. 04Variante mit modal

"If I had practised more often, I could perform on stage today."

Ergebnis: Mixed Conditional ist hilfreich, wenn die Bedingung in der Vergangenheit liegt, aber die Folge in der Gegenwart bestehen würde.

Maturafokus

  • Achte auf Subjekt-Verb-Konkordanz und Vorzeitigkeit.
  • Inversion in Type 2 / 3 ohne "if": "Were I to win", "Had I known". (formell / literarisch).
  • Modale statt "will / would" möglich: "If she calls, you can answer", "If you were tired, you could rest".
  • In Mixed-Konstruktionen die Zeitrelation klar denken.
  • Vermeide "If I would" - Bedingungssatz nimmt KEIN modal "would".

Typische Fehler

  • "If I would win" - falsch; korrekt "If I won".
  • "If I will see her, I will tell her" - falsch; korrekt "If I see her".
  • Type 3 ohne Past Perfect ("If I knew, I would have called" - eher Mixed).
  • Mixed Conditional verwechselt mit Type 3.
  • "If I was you" vs. "If I were you" - formell "were".

Aktive Wiederholung

Write 5 conditional sentences, one per type (Type 0, 1, 2, 3, Mixed). For each, identify the time relationship (present-present / future-future / hypothetical present / past-past / past-present). Verify each example with Englisch-Hilfen.

§ 05

Reported Speech - Backshift und Reporting Verbs#

●●○StandardLPE-G-Rep-1.1

Kernpunkte

Direct Speech: "I am hungry," she said. Reported Speech: She said (that) she was hungry.
Backshift (): Tense rückt eine Stufe in die Vergangenheit (Present -> Past, Past -> Past Perfect, will -> would, can -> could, may -> might, must -> had to).

Reported Speech - Backshift-Tabelle

BackshiftTabelle mit 3 Spalten und 5 Zeilen, Daten: Direkte Rede · Reported · Beispiel; Present Simple · Past Simple · work -> worked; Present Perfect · Past Perfect · have -> had done; Past Simple · Past Perfect · went -> had gone; will / can · would / could · will -> would; now / today · then / that day · ZeitadverbDIREKTE REDEREPORTEDBEISPIELPRESENT SIMPLEPast Simplework -> workedPRESENT PERFECTPast Perfecthave -> had donePAST SIMPLEPast Perfectwent -> had goneWILL / CANwould / couldwill -> wouldNOW / TODAYthen / that dayZeitadverb
Abb. 5Beim Berichten nach einem Past-Reporting-Verb rückt jedes Tempus eine Stufe zurück; Pronomen sowie Zeit- und Ortsadverbien werden mitverschoben.
Pronouns ändern sich entsprechend: I -> he/she, my -> his/her, we -> they.
Zeit- und Ortsadverbien: now -> then, today -> that day, yesterday -> the day before, tomorrow -> the next day, here -> there.
Reporting Verbs ohne "that": tell sb. that ..., say (that) ..., suggest (that), recommend that, demand that.
Fragen werden in Aussagesatz-Struktur umgewandelt: "Where do you live?" -> She asked where I lived.
Musterbeispiel

Reported Speech mit Backshift und Zeit-Adverb-Wechsel

Convert into reported speech: At a meeting yesterday, my boss said: "I will finalise the report tomorrow."

  1. 01Reporting Verb

"At a meeting yesterday, my boss said that..."

  2. 02Tense Backshift

"will" -> "would". Restsatz wird Aussagesatz.

  3. 03Zeitadverb

"tomorrow" -> "the next day" (oder "the following day").

  4. 04Voller Satz

"At a meeting yesterday, my boss said that he would finalise the report the next day."

Ergebnis: Backshift + Adverb-Wechsel ergeben den korrekten Reported-Speech-Satz.

Maturafokus

  • Backshift gilt nicht, wenn das Reporting Verb in Present steht (She says she is hungry).
  • Backshift gilt nicht bei zeitlosen Wahrheiten ("Water boils at 100 C", The teacher said that water boils at 100 C).
  • Indirect Yes/No Question: with "if" / "whether". "Are you ok?" -> She asked if I was OK.
  • Indirect Wh-Question: ohne do-Hilfsverb. "Where do you live?" -> She asked where I lived.
  • Imperative -> Infinitiv: "Close the door" -> She told him to close the door.

Typische Fehler

  • Backshift vergessen ("She said she is hungry" - nur wenn Bedingungen es erlauben, sonst "she was").
  • Frage-Inversion in Reported Question beibehalten ("She asked where do I live" - falsch; korrekt "where I lived").
  • Pronoun-Wechsel vergessen.
  • "Said" und "told" verwechselt: said + (to sb) + (that); told + sb + (that). NICHT "He told that he was tired" - falsch; korrekt: "He said that he was tired" oder "He told me that he was tired".
  • Zeitadverbien nicht angepasst.

Aktive Wiederholung

Convert 6 direct utterances into reported speech: 1) statement ("I am tired"), 2) yes/no question ("Are you coming?"), 3) wh-question ("Where do you live?"), 4) imperative ("Stop talking!"), 5) past statement ("I went to Paris"), 6) future statement ("I will call tomorrow"). Adjust tense, pronouns, and adverbs.

§ 06

Subjekt-Verb-Konkordanz und Tense Consistency - die häufigsten Punktverluste#

●○○BasisLPE-G-Agr-1.1LPE-LIU-Edit-1.1

Kernpunkte

Subjekt-Verb-Konkordanz (Concord): das Verb richtet sich in Zahl und Person nach dem Subjekt. 3. Person Singular Präsens braucht -s (she works, it depends); Plural-Subjekt braucht das Verb ohne -s (they work).
Stolperfälle der Konkordanz (): uncountable nouns sind Singular (the news IS, information IS); "everyone / everybody / each / neither" sind Singular (everyone HAS); "the police / people" sind Plural (the police ARE).

Subjekt-Verb-Konkordanz - Stolperfälle

Concord-StolperfälleTabelle mit 3 Spalten und 5 Zeilen, Daten: Subjekt · Verb · Beispiel; the number of · Singular · has risen; a number of · Plural · have risen; each/everyone · Singular · everyone has; news / info · Singular · the news is; the police · Plural · the police areSUBJEKTVERBBEISPIELTHE NUMBER OFSingularhas risenA NUMBER OFPluralhave risenEACH/EVERYONESingulareveryone hasNEWS / INFOSingularthe news isTHE POLICEPluralthe police are
Sequence of Tenses: nach Past-Reporting folgt Backshift (He said he was tired); im Conditional richten sich Haupt- und Nebensatz nach dem Typ (Type 2: Past + would).
Musterbeispiel

Konkordanz- und Konsistenzfehler in einem Absatz korrigieren

Korrigiere die Fehler im folgenden Bericht: "Last summer my family travel to Italy. The number of tourists were enormous, and everyone want a photo. Now I still remembers how crowded it is."

  1. 01Schritt 1 - Erzählzeit festlegen

Der Bericht handelt von "last summer" - die Erzählzeit ist Past Simple. "travel" -> "travelled", "is" am Schluss bezieht sich auf die Vergangenheit -> "was".

  2. 02Schritt 2 - Konkordanz nach dem echten Subjekt

"The number of tourists were" -> Subjekt ist "the number" (Singular) -> "was". "everyone want" -> everyone ist Singular -> "wanted" (Past). "I still remembers" -> 1. Person -> "remember".

  3. 03Schritt 3 - Tense Consistency im Schlusssatz

"Now I still remember" beschreibt die Gegenwart -> Present ist hier korrekt, aber der eingebettete Rückblick "how crowded it was" muss Past sein (vergangenes Erlebnis).

Ergebnis: Korrekt: "Last summer my family travelled to Italy. The number of tourists was enormous, and everyone wanted a photo. Now I still remember how crowded it was." - drei Konkordanzfehler und zwei Konsistenzfehler behoben; Sprachrichtigkeit deutlich besser.

Maturafokus

  • Prüfe im Editing jede 3.-Person-Singular-Form auf das -s (she go -> she goes).
  • Identifiziere das echte Subjekt hinter Einschüben und richte das Verb danach aus.
  • Behandle uncountable nouns und Indefinitpronomen (everyone, each) konsequent als Singular.
  • Prüfe beim Editing jeden Absatz auf einen unmotivierten Tense-Wechsel (Past <-> Present).
  • Lass beim 5-Minuten-Endcheck einen Durchgang nur für Concord und Tense Consistency.

Typische Fehler

  • Fehlendes -s in der 3. Person Singular ("He depend on his parents").
  • Verb nach dem Einschub-Substantiv statt nach dem Subjekt gerichtet ("The list of items are ...").
  • Uncountable noun als Plural behandelt ("The news are good", "informations").
  • Unmotivierter Tense-Wechsel mitten im Bericht (Past zu Present).
  • "Everyone / each" mit Plural-Verb ("Everyone have a ticket").

Aktive Wiederholung

Take a 150-word narrative paragraph you wrote in the past tense. Underline every verb and check (a) it agrees with its true subject and (b) the tense stays consistent unless a shift is justified. Correct each error and note its category (concord / consistency).
